LIGHT & MATERIAL
Light across a fold.
One photograph, and the details that hold our attention.

The brightest part of this photograph runs along a raised fold. Just below it, the fabric falls into brown shadow. Follow that edge and the surface changes from something flat into something with weight.
We chose the image for this meeting of light and material. The lit areas retain a soft texture; the shadow gives the folds their shape. It is a small subject with enough detail to fill the frame.
The photograph also offers a useful cue for a room: before adding another object, look at what the light already does. The same curtain or folded blanket can look different from the next chair.
